On Monday Hearst Inc. told Helen Thomas to get the hell out of their newspapers. Thomas who had been a columnist for Hearst since 2000 but had covered the White House since 1960, revealed herself to be bigoted, ignorant of world history and probably anti-semetic when she told an interviewer in a video that "the Jews should get the hell out of Palestine. Its not their country. They are occupiers. They should go back to Germany and Poland and the United States".
Thomas, sounding like a spokesman for Hamas and showing the same ignorance of history, was quickly criticized and ridiculed by everyone from Jon Stewart to the White House when Robert Gibbs called her comments "reprehensible".
Thomas actually tipped her hand the day before when she wanted to know in a White House press briefing why the White House hadnt been more forceful in criticizing Israel for its action in stopping a Gaza bound ship from trying to run their blockade.
Thomas, as were many ignorant people around the world who expressed "outrage", was oblivious to the fact that under international law the blockade was perfectly legal and was so was Israel's intervention in preventing the ships from running the blockade. She was also oblivious to the fact that the Gaza activists had intentionally sought a confrontation, attacked the Israeli commandos legally boarding the ship first and brought the whole episode on themselves.
Thomas, who is of Lebanese descent in all probability was still harboring anger and resentment over Israel's incursion into Lebanon a few years ago to destroy Hezbollah after their being attacked by Hezbollah rockets, since just about everything she had to say which was caught on the YouTube video was anti-semetic, angry and irrational.
Which quickly resulted in Thomas being dropped by her speaking agency and had a recent speaking engagement canceled. She was finally told by Hearst to leave or be fired. She chose to "retire". But so far no word on whether she intends on "getting the hell out" of the news business and going back to Lebanon.
Marc Rubin , possibly because you are a jew and NOT ignorant of word history, but oblivious to it, a thief, disrespectful to others'Goi' history and obnoxious enough to think no one dares even think of recent history, as Palestinian history is much more recent in Palestine. Forcing jewish Biblical history on a world full of non jews as well as non Bible believers, so who really cares if your God promised you Palestinian land thousands of years ago !!! why don't you try to explain to the rest of us Antisemitics how that could fit into today's world ? Helen was right, jews should go home to Poland, Germany The US and the former USSR !!! how is it that you can convince your self and all these poor scared slobs of a lie! how could you possibly have more right to a land than people who have been living on it for as long as your Divine promise ? least but not last if you are so concerned with Helen's Lebanese descent why don't you clarify the descent of all her attackers and opponents who made sure she loses her job !! Last but not least Helen Thomas was/is an American icon, it is sad to see how fast we oust our own in fear of being labeled the big bad 'AS' word !!!
ReplyDelete"Forcing jewish Biblical history on a world full of non jews as well as non Bible believers, so who really cares if your God promised you Palestinian land thousands of years ago !!! "
ReplyDeleteyou are obviously as ignorant of world history as you are of international law and your own bigotry is not only plainly obvious it makes everything you say worthless.
To show just how ignorant you are, and with it how worthless your point of view is, go educate yourself and learn where the name "Palestine" came from. I have no doubt you dont have a clue you just spout ignorance nonsene about the bible and world history.
When you learn the origins of the name the Palestinians take for themselves and why you call the land Palestine you will only begin to see your own ignorance.
For now you can think about the fact that Abbas himself has said publicly that the Arabs rejecting the 1947 partion was a huge mistake.
The fact that the land and the people on it take the word Palestine is proof in and of itself that biblical history is at the heart of it and even if it wasnt, the Arabs tried 4 times to oust Israel and all four times had their armies completley destroyed and the only reason Israel is not 5times larger than it is now is they have no interest in Arab land. If for no other reason( and there are many) when countries declare war on another and get their heads handed to them every time and lose, they dont get to make the rules. The winners do.
Get used to it.Its not going to change.
As far Thomas is concerned she is just bitter as someone who is Lebanese that Israel did what it had to do in Lebanon to get rid of Hezzbollah. The Lebanese understand that which is why they got rid of the presence of Hezzbollah in their government.
Have a nice day.
Markie, learn how to spell first of all. It's anti-semitic not "semetic". Then brush up on your international law. It is anything but "legal" to intercept an unarmed vessel by force of arms eighty miles out to sea in international waters. Since the Israelis were not flying the Jolly Roger but the flag of a sovereign state it's not piracy as some have asserted. What it was was an an Act of War against Turkey, under whose flag the **Mavi Marmara** was sailing.
ReplyDeleteEven had the interception occurred within sight of the Gaza coast, it would still have been of questionable legality in that Israel's continuing blockade of Gaza violates several UN resolutions and is unquestionably illegal in itself.

ReplyDeleteI cant compete with your stupefying ignorance and your pretending that you know something about international law ( or anything else for that matter).
For your own much needed education, it absolutley is legal to intercept an unarmed vessel in international waters, seize it, use any force neccessary to stop it which shows really just how ignorant and phony your opinions are about this and Im sure everythng else.

ReplyDeleteI should have added that before you go spouting off about naval blockades and what is legal it might help for you to brush up on international law yourself and if neccessary get someone to read you the big words so you understand what it means which is that naval blockades are legal under international law and so is intercepting and stopping any ship in international waters that tries to break it for any reason and with any force neccessary.
Now dont forget to eat your spinach and wash behind your ears.
