In the Obama campaign's most recent bizarre moment, Barack Obama, exercising the judgement he has become famous for, decided it was a good idea to send Wesley Clark onto the Sunday talk show circuit to criticize John McCain's war record and military service saying it was not sufficient for him to be commander-in-chief. This is something like a colander accusing a pot of having holes. It is also crosses the line into incompetence considering that Ret.Major General Barack Obama's war record consists entirely of a successful attack on Alice Palmer to get his start in Chicago politics.
Now we can add another Obama "what were they thinking moment" to go along with his other famous moments including his recent seal of disapproval which doesn't just call his judgement into question, it shows he simply doesn't have any. And while being a Navy fighter pilot and a POW for 4 years certainly doesn't qualify someone to be Commander-in- Chief, being mentored for 17 years by Jeremiah Wright doesn't exactly move you to the top of the list either.
Nancy Pelosi said not too long ago that she supported Obama because he has the judgment to be President. This is of course, like a homeless person giving advice on how to fix the housing crisis. We've been seeing Obama's judgement on display for the past two weeks and it hasn't been pretty. Breaking his pledge on public campaign financing, embracing the telecom immunity bill, reversing himself on Jerusalem within 24 hours which managed to unite both Israelis and Palestinians in their contempt for him, the Johnson episode before that, flip flopping on the recent Supreme Court gun decision while trying to pretend his reversal was because of "inartful" phrasing a year ago, and that obnoxious seal. And now an attack on McCain's military service as being insufficient to be Commander-in-chief in support of a Presidental candidate that doesn't have any of his own.
This is another extension of the judgment Obama showed in his 17 year relationship with Wright and his insufficient and evasive explanations about it during the primary.
After being caught in a series of lies about what he actually knew and heard, he finally admitted what he knew and heard said he disagreed with every inflammatory anti-American statement Wright ever made and found them all reprehensible and despicable. But he never gave a credible explanation as to why it took him 17 years to leave the room.
He has shown a propensity for saying anything to anyone at anytime to get what he wants right at the moment or to try and make a favorable impression and worry about the consequences later and he's been able to get away with it with the terminally gullible.Especially the journalists covering his campaign. But that's how you get reversals and broken pledges and flip flops on Supreme Court decisions and Jerusalem and how the person who claimed he had the judgement to be Commander-in-Chief from day one didn't leave Wright and his church until day 6,205.
Chicago journalists speculate he stayed at Trinity Church for 17 years for political reasons because it was in the district he represented and he did it to continue to get re-elected. Whatever Obama's reasons 17 years is a long time. And his actions and what he had to say about its says everything there needs to be said about his judgement and his credibility and who and what he is as a politician. How he could even think that attacking McCain's military service and war record as making him unfit to be the Commander-in-Chief could have any credibility in boosting his own standing to be Commander-in-Chief should be enough for the super delegates who declared for him on June 5 to undo the damage when they get to the convention and cast their votes when it really counts.
I used to be in advertising. I did print ads and TV commercials and ad campaigns for a living. I won a lot of awards doing it. Everything I did was successful. Everything. I worked for some of the top agencies in the business. And I'm still good at it
It took me less than 5 minutes to write a commercial for John McCain using this one issue, that he could run against Barack Obama from now until election day and John McCain could go fishing from now until November and win an election that would make Reagan - Mondale look like a squeaker.
I'm not bragging. I'm just trying to make a point. I didn't do the commercial as a gift to John McCain. I did it as a gift to the Democratic Party and any superdelegates who still wants to win in November. They have seven weeks to take it. I hope they do.
OPEN ON BLACK AND WHITE STILL OF McCAIN LYING PRONE IN A NORTH VIETNAMESE PRISON CAMP.
VO: For 4 years John McCain stood up for America as a POW in a North Vietnamese prison camp refusing under torture to make anti- American statements to be used as propaganda, never knowing when any given day might be his last.
INTERCUT VARIOUS SHOTS OF OBAMA AND JEREMIAH WRIGHT EMBRACING AND SMILING, THEN WRIGHT ON HIS PULPIT RAILING WITH ONE OF HIS SERMONS.
V.O: For 17 years Barack Obama wouldn't stand up for America against the anti-American statements made by his own pastor in his church on the south side of Chicago until his political ambitions made it neccessary.
TWO STILLS SIDE BY SIDE - A B&W STILL OF McCAIN AS POW - OBAMA AND WRIGHT SMILING FOR THE CAMERA.
V.O.: Years before asking anyone for a single vote each made a choice. On November 4th it will be time to make yours.
FREEZE FRAME: McCAIN IN HIS DRESS WHITE NAVY UNIFORM ON CRUTCHES GETTING A MEDAL.
SUPER: John McCain For President.
SFX: Wright(V.O):"On September 11th the chickens came home to roost.."
See you in Denver.
Marc, another brilliant essay. I wish I could bang your good sense and clear thinking into the head of every superdelegate but alas, I think they are drunk on the Cherry Kool-Aid. The hangover's gonna be brutal.
ReplyDeleteDear Marc: Every day Obama gets scarier and scarier. Can you believe Arianna Huffington is now upset that he is moving to the center? Pretty laughable. One wonders what lens she and her people were looking through for the past 16 months that made them think Obama had one honest, sincere bone in his body. For the incredibly gullible, I guess Obama's defection from liberal left wing ideology to whatever might win votes today is pretty shocking. His latest announcement of a trip to the Middle East (perhaps Universal Studios can help choreograph it) should certainly make him the expert on national security and international affairs...
ReplyDeleteThanks for the great insights - love your commercial - and for helping me to stay reasonably sane during this 2008 election cycle.
Great commercial as well as great writing in your article.
ReplyDeleteI really liked it and linked to it so more could read it. Thanks.
I have been waiting all day for your take on recent events with the Obama camp. Great insights and very, very funny too! I hope and pray that Senator Clinton stays away from this disaster unfolding from the brains of Axelrod and company. Hopefully she declines any VP offer which Obama will no doubt make once his poll numbers begin to tank. Even if Obama manages to win, I see a redux of Carter's woeful equivocation on domestic policy combined with George W's scary arrogance on foreign policy. In other words--a disaster any way you slice it.
ReplyDeleteExcellent Marc - I usually just read & don't comment but this is great & I hope that McCain would use this as an ad - don't know what was in that kool aid but it is really bad - hard to get people out of coma they are in from drinking the stuff - ick - I didn't like it even as a kid..........
ReplyDeleteYou're right about Mr. Obama's total lack of judgment, and your ad is good.
ReplyDeleteBA
I'd give the ad 2 thumbs up (that's all I have)
ReplyDeletePity the McCain campaign wouldn't be interested until after the August convention.
Thank you Marc -- mighty powerful. I didn't realize until I clicked on the black and white photo in your article that it was John McCain; I should have worn waterproof mascara today.
ReplyDeleteWonderful, your analysis is always terrific.
ReplyDeleteIn truth for Obama, Pelosi and Soros, this isn't about our Country. They are about Power and Money. I hope McCain runs your ad, we need a way to Wake Up America!
Wesley Clark - another body under the bus. Promises, promises.
ReplyDelete0 + Co. are starting to repeat themselves, they're leaving handprints. Even wingnuts (yes, we have them too) like Arianna are taking notice. KO did his special comment on FISA last night - didn't really attack him...more like a tutorial on damage control.
A few more front jobs like Clark, and no one will want the Veep job...
Very well done, Marc!!
Marc, You are in rare form today. Well done yet again. If the Republicans don't use your ad, they are fools. The last I heard, Obama and McCain were fighting each other to see who could open the most defensive websites to fend off anticipated attacks.
ReplyDeleteGreat post, but:
ReplyDeletethe anti-American statements made by his own pastor in a black church on the south side of Chicago
Why "black church?" Why not just "church?"
I'm sure that the RNC has a similar ad and more waiting in the wings to be aired after the coronation in Denver.
ReplyDelete"Why "black church?" Why not just "church?"
ReplyDeleteBecause the Trinity Church and Jeremiah Wright preached (and still preached) what is called "Black Theology" which is a theology unique to African American christians.
And women, I keep wondering what happens when someone focuses on the fact that Barack and Michelle took their daughters to hear that guy every Sunday - holy moly, that's like taking your kid to a KKK meeting. There are just some things you don't do if you want to be president.
ReplyDeleteMarc,
ReplyDeleteBrilliant as usual. Thanks!
I made commercials too and have awards. Yours is terrific.
ReplyDeleteMore, please.
You and the Republicans have an embarrassment of riches in the choice of material. Emphasis on "embarrassment".
Marc,
ReplyDeleteThe visuals were so clear in my mind. You were brilliantly succinct. Send them to the McCain people and get it done.
Got Growl - PUMA!
I'm so glad we're on the same team. Your intelligence and integrity always come through in your writing.
ReplyDeleteOne question: wasn't it 5 years that McCain was in prison, and didn't he admit to making a propaganda statement after four straight days of torture? Not that it matters, but that has been one of the recent outrageous slanders against him by an Obama blogger: he "betrayed" his country in prison. Of course, there is no detail about the horrors McCain endured, and the blogger probably never even survived a night of camping out.
I have never understood this argument about Obama's supposed superior judgment. Based on WHAT?! One minor speech in a liberal district of Chicago (and then he never did another thing to oppose the Iraq war)? He was exhausted, irritable, and stumbling all over the place by the end of the primary season, as Hillary continued to peak. Now that he is the presumed nominee, his continuous shifts and mistakes are hard to keep up with.
I have also used the word "gullible" to explain the extent to which supporters, the media, and the DNC have gone to make excuses for this guy, when ANY other candidate would have been toast long ago. To hear Wes Clark talking about Obama's "character and judgment" as adequate qualifications for the presidency, only served to diminish Clark's credibility.
When, oh when, will this absurd play end?
Would love to see your idea become a real ad.
ReplyDeleteOne thing I would change though is the line "obama sat in a black church on the SO side." As a black American I can tell you right now, that line alone would have every black activist screaming racism. As it would be looked at as a generalization of ALL black churches. Thus that would become the talking point of the ad in the MSM and the actual message from the ad would be completely lost.
I think just phrasing is "he sat for 17yr in chicago's trinty church" or "he sat for 17 in a SO Chicago church" or better yet, "he sat for 17 years in Rev. Wright's SO church" is enough.
I used my version of that EXACT commercial to convince my husband, a bi racial man like Barack, who is predisposed to supporting a fellow minority (and rightly so) that Barack is vulnerable despite all the hype.
ReplyDeleteI said "I'm not saying he will lose, this is a country after all that cares about Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan, I'm saying he could lose."
I've been frustrated for the entire month of June because I haven't seen anything resembling "my" ad on TV while Barack is all over the place.
Now, someone with the talent I lack, and a forum, has written it. Now it's not just my disjointed rant in my living room on Sunday morning (my poor husband).
Can we get it on TV (not the Internet)?
You are my favorite (male) Hillary blogger...who knew you were so incredibly talented?
Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Dear Marc,
ReplyDeleteI just KNEW you would be the one to bring our kidnapped heroine home!
Obamugabe doesn't stand a chance with your powerful writing.
This is my first time reading your blog, and I love it! Your commercial is outstanding and I have the feeling we will be seeing similar ads from the Republican's. I've never supported Obama because I've lived in the Chicago area all my life and I saw what a dirty campaign Obama ran as Senator of Illinois. Back then, he did the same thing he is doing now, he let his surrogates throw the mud and he tries to distance himself and acts as if he knew nothing about it. He's just another Chicago flim-flam politician.
ReplyDeleteFirst, let me compliment you on your excellent writing ability.
ReplyDeleteSecond, I am a Conservative Republican (not happy with the GOP right now, though) and finding your site and hundreds of sites like yours, gives my heart relief and hope for our country.
I thought the whole democratic party had gone absolutely mad choosing this imposter, Obama, for their nominee.
I don't agree with Hillary on almost every issue, but at least she has the integrity to stand by her decisions, even if they are not popular.
She would not back down on her vote for the war and that did take guts.
From what I have seen of Obama since he did an "Alice Palmer" on Hillary, he has no core, no convictions, only a frighteningly huge black hole of an ego (his wife, too) that can never get enough.
Keep up your good work.
And P.S. Fabulous ad for McCain. (I am a Romney fan, but McCain is better than Obama, any day! And McCain is a true Patriot and an American Hero.)
fif, if you read this comment, I recommend that see "Goya's Ghost." In fact, I recommend it to everyone.
ReplyDeleteIt's about the artist Goya during the Spanish Inquisition. Natalie Portman plays the part of one of his models who is thrown into prison at the charge that she is Jewish.
She is tortured and confesses.
There is a priceless scene where her father invites the priest who is responsible for his daughter's torture to dinner to ask him to release her. When the priest refuses, the father tortures the priest for a brief time and makes him sign a letter saying that he is the offspring of a monkey or something ridiculous like that.
He signs it after hardly any torture at all.
The point was that the priest argued that if the accused is really innocent, God will give him or her the strength to deny guilt, so a person who confesses must be guilty.
The people criticizing John McCain for signing a confession after being tortured should go through one hour of what John McCain suffered at the hands of the Viet Cong -- then we could hear what they have to say about Senator McCain's prisoner of war experience.
Anyway, I give the movie 5 stars.
Send this to McCain.
ReplyDeleteSecondly, I just read this on NoQuarter:
Selective Service Required: Did Obama Register?
By FreeDemcloseAuthor: FreeDem Name: Free Dem
Email: susanunpc@gmail.com
Site:
About: See Authors Posts (2) on July 1, 2008 at 9:31 AM in Barack Obama, Selective Service, eligibility
According to the Selective Service System, under the authority of the Military Selective Service Act (Act of June 24, 1948, c. 625, 62 Stat. 604, as amended; 50 U.S.C. App. 451 et seq.):
A man must be registered to be eligible for jobs in the Executive Branch of the Federal government and the U.S. Postal Service. Proof of registration is required only for men born after December 31, 1959.
The registration requirement was suspended in April 1975. It was resumed again in 1980 by President Carter in response to the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan. Registration continues today as a hedge against underestimating the number of servicemen needed in a future crisis.
1-103. Persons born in calendar year 1961 shall present themselves for registration on any of the six days beginning Monday, July 28, 1980. (Source).
The obligation of a man to register is imposed by the Military Selective Service Act. The Act establishes and governs the operations of the Selective Service System.
Barack Obama, who states he was born in Aug. 1961, was required to register for the Selective Service in 1980. Did he?
Efforts to confirm his registration have been unsuccessful, and Sen. Obama has failed thus far to offer proof of registration, or authorize the SSS to release this information to the general public. It is in the public’s interest to know whether a potential president followed the law during his lifetime.
Sen. Obama can lay this issue to rest immediately by providing proof of his Selective Service registration, which is reqiured to serve in the Executive Branch. The President of the United States of America is the head of the Executive Branch of government. There has been plenty of obfuscation surrounding the matter of Sen. Obama’s birth certification. Hopefully the question of his Selective Service registration will be resolved more swiftly.
The reason Clinton supporters will not vote for Obama is because they are embarrassed of him, his life, his unfair tactics and his beliefs. And they still don't know all about him.

ReplyDeleteIt looks like the chickens are coming home to roost - Obama's chickens. Let us just hope that makes a lot of the SD's fly the coop!
Wow! What a great commercial!!! You're so right about its intensity and magnitude. It could indeed put an end to the election rather quickly. It makes all the other infamous commercials look pretty tame—like Willie Horton or Dukakis in a tank. So, is there a possibility a 527 could put a commercial like this out on the airwaves BEFORE Denver????? BEFORE it's too late???
ReplyDeleteMarc... Just when I think you can't get any better you come up with this Ãœber-brilliant piece! ~ Wrap a bow around this puppy and send it to the McCain camp, will you?... let's knock this pretender to the presidency out of the park, once and for all!!
ReplyDeleteWhat I wouldn't give to have someone release it before the August convention...hey, I can dream can't I ?
You're still my hero! ~
Jill L (PalmBeach)
Excellent post and so true. I can not believe what Howard Dean and all are doing. I really do not understand unless is it for power and money, outright, blatant corruption. I do not think he can win even , not with his past and present,(Ayers, Rezko, NOI, pay-to-play board games, etc). Other than a party shakeup what else is there?
ReplyDeleteHere are a few more brilliant ones done by YouTuber:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iSd06IHUZhY
Great post. Unfortunately, the GOP doesn't have the cojones to run any such ad, and frankly, McCain would put the kibosh on it himself like he tried to do when the GOP in N.C. ran an ad about Obama. I'm about as conservative as they come, and here's what I think McCain needs to do to turn things around. It's worth a quick read. ;-)
ReplyDeleteKeep up the good work
Hi Marc:
ReplyDeleteFor me, you're preaching to the choir. I have major problems with McCain on policy issues but found the veiled attack on the man's military record disgusting. I read that the Obama folks were sending up a trial balloon, just to see if that line of attack worked. I doubt that reason. I think the whole Obama bunch are arrogant and ruthless and will do whatever they think will scoop up a few more votes.
In this case and with all the latest Obama reversals, I think they should start counting the disappearing votes. He won't get my vote. In the beginning I thought the man was simply a fraud, a pretender to the throne. But now, I think Obama and his army of Obamatrons are dangerous and need to be stopped.
I've been a lifelong Dem, but I'll vote for John McCain in November and pray that he wins.
PUMApac.org
Excellent piece today, and terrific ad! As predicted, the crater dive has already begun and the nomination is not even secured yet. But then...cleary DNC leadership and the Obama camp are already terrified or they wouldn't be fighting so hard to keep everyone off the first ballot but Obama, perpetrating cyber terror and intimidation tactics.
ReplyDeleteThe bottom line is that anyone who changes their mind so reliably demonstrates beyond question their absence of good judgment and qualifications to lead a nation.
Keep up the good work Marc!
Marc,
ReplyDeleteThe poster Anonymous, July 1, 2008 10:07 PM, (identifies himself as a black man, if you're not sure which "Anonymous" he is) gave you very perceptive advice about deleting the adjective "black" before "church." It sounds like a blanket indictment of all black churches. Also, if someone named "Rubin" seems to stigmatize black people, he will be providing ammunition for the likes of Farrakhan, Jackson Sr. and Jr., Sharpton, Wright, etc. They will resort to their favorite lie about Jews being anti-black and use a non-issue to divert attention from your ad's anti-Obama message.
"...gave you very perceptive advice about deleting the adjective "black" before "church." It sounds like a blanket indictment of all black churches"
ReplyDeleteI must respectfully disagree that in referring to Obama's " black church" that it could be construed as referring to any and all black churches since Im sure anyone who has been following the primary season knows it is specifically the Trinity Church that is being referred to.
And my point in mentioning that it was a black church was not to comment on black churches at all but only to point out that Obama was in a freindly environment when Wright was making his anti-American statments and McCain was in an extremely hostile environment and I was contrasting the two.
It was actually Obama himself in his speech in Philadelphia who related Trinity to all black churches which I thought was dishonest when he referred to black churches and their role ( as he saw it ) in the black community. But since Trinity preached the doctrine of Black Theology and most black churches dont I dont think it was a fair comparison.
In any event, I dont think I'm indicting ANY black church for any reason.
My main point was that Obama was in friendly surroundings during his 17 year relationship with Wright and McCain was in hostile and dangerous surroundings. I dont think people will draw the inference that Trinity was like most black churches or that I was lumping black churches in general ith Trinity.
Marc said
ReplyDelete"I must respectfully disagree that in referring to Obama's " black church" that it could be construed as referring to any and all black churches since Im sure anyone who has been following the primary season knows it is specifically the Trinity Church that is being referred to."
But there's intent, vs. perception. As you just said "anyone following the primary would know" but many people WEREN'T following, and even those that did would STILL seize upon that one little adjective to ruin the entire point of the ad.
The point is that he sat in a racist church not that it was a "black" racist church, there are plenty of white ones out there too, I'm sure.
If the ad is phrased that way, it will fail.
This is why commercials, movies, just about ANYthing is test marketed FIRST to catch fatal flaws before going live. And that most definitely qualifies as one.
The proof that it's too volatile a statement is evidenced right here. I think everyone who's posted knows what you meant, but it's STILL causing controversy, and that's among people who agree with the ad. Imagine if someone wanted to turn the ad against you.
ReplyDeleteYou don't need to be handing them the ammo.
please oh please make that commerical
ReplyDeleteWow what a great commercial. I do hope the McCain camp uses it!
ReplyDeleteWell, McCain has finally sealed the deal with big hitters in the Christian Right community...This was something he was working on and needed...It may offset Obama's push with the younger religious crowd...
ReplyDelete“Matthew 25 Network PAC Hits Christian Radio with Pro-Obama Ad as Christian Conservative Leaders Decide to Support McCain

Oh, boy…religion all the time…what issues will be overlooked by the barrage of religiousity??
I must say that my first thought at seeing "black church" was that it would unnecessarily get the pc police in a tizzy. No matteri what your intent it will be twisted. I agree with the AA person =it should just be church in chicago or trnity church.
ReplyDeleteMarc,
ReplyDeleteMake the commercial and post it to YouTube. You'll be doing the entire country a service. I also believe there's a link on the McCain website inviting people to post their own commercials.
P.S.: I am a member of Women for Fair Politics, whose approach in working to defeat Obama you seem to feel is "not as constructive" as the Denver Group's. In my own defense, as well as others, we have simply lost faith in the Democratic Party leadership and do not believe they will do the right thing at the convention. So we're trying to move on and plot a strategy for November.
That does not mean, though, that I don't support your cause and hope that you are successful in pressuring the DNC to allow Hillary Clinton's name to be placed in nomination in Denver. Earlier today I went on the Denver Group's web site and donated money to that cause and I challenge others here to do the same. We can make a difference, but it is time to speak with cash in order to accomplish our goals.
"P.S.: I am a member of Women for Fair Politics, whose approach in working to defeat Obama you seem to feel is "not as constructive" as the Denver Group's."
ReplyDeleteI think in the give and take of the interview I probably wasnt as clear as I could have been and should have been since I seem to have left the wrong impression with you about what youre group is doing. Im completely sympathetic to what youre doing and as you see on my own blog I have been opposing Obama since the first time I ever heard him speak and tagged him as a snakeoil salesman with no scruples or convictions.
What you are doing and other groups like Risehillaryrise and the Just Say No coalition are things I support. But what Im hoping we can accomplish with the Denver Group is simply that come November we wont have Obama to kick around any more. I also agree with you about not having faith in the leadership of the Democratic Party and that is another function of the Denver Group. To pressure them and force them to do the right thing because left to their own devices they probably wouldnt.
I know of your group I support your group and what Im hoping for the most is that with Hillary's name on the ballot where it belongs when that convention is over there wont be a reason to go after Obama anymore
"The point is that he sat in a racist church not that it was a "black" racist church, there are plenty of white ones out there too, I'm sure."
ReplyDeletesince there are two other comments that agree with you Im going to give more consideration to what you have to say and rethink it. Again the only point of mentioning that it was a black church at all had nothing to do racism, or that that black churches are somehow all of one kind which they are obviously not, but only to say that Obama was in a familial, freindly environment and didnt speak out against Wright's comments while McCain was in the most hostile environment one can imagine and refused to make anti-American statements. But I'm going to give further thought to your comment.
Wonderful article - great insights and TV ad, someone posted that you should make the Ad and post it on You Tube, I agree and then send it to Larry Johnson at No Quarter, then to the RNC.
ReplyDeleteIt really is true about taking their kids to that church. When I first heard about the church, I was unclear what had happened and how much might be about cultural differences. From that position I became more and more aware that what happened there was really not OK. Maybe some good happened there, probably did, but a lot not OK too and not OK for children. When I think of taking those innocent little girls to hear men on the pulpit spewing unmitigated hatred. Sure some adults might be able to view that as hatred towards the "oppression", but to children it is just hating whitey and growing up to hate whitey. He could not do this to the children, I assume he loves, unless he believed hating whitey was a good thing to pass on to the fruit of his loins, to who most people give their best.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Marc for considering feedback.
ReplyDeleteI am one of your biggest fans...(though it seems that I'd probably have to arm wrestle for that honor (since so many admire/love your writing.)
But given that the MSM has repeatedly AND successfully painted opponents of Obama as racists (not to mention the Clintons) logic is not ruling...
And it seems (imho) that absolutely any remark that can faintly be construed as racists will be used to vilify/discredit anyone accused of using such terms...despite logic or intentions.
So...I am also voting that you remove word "black" and use just "church" (or maybe even "racist church" would make point.)
(Also...as someone who grew up as the only Jewish person in an anti-semitic environment...I really understand what it can be like to feel accused/identified/vilified based on worst behavior of group.
It can be wounding...and contribute to distrust of the OTHER...(contributing to a WE/THEY mentality.)
(And believe me...I know what I experienced does not compare with racism. But it just gives me a hint of what it feels like. So, I'm at least personally inclined to go the extra mile not to say anything that can be misconstrued as negative about other races.)
What I find disturbing about Obama's association with Trinity...is not that rage was expressed there...but there is no indication that there was an approach that would truly contribute to the harmony/unity that Obama claims as his platform...
If he's the candidate of unity...why wasn't he drawn to a minister like
MLK, jr. who acknowledged the pain/hurt but provided wisdom/love/insight to overcome it...and move beyond it...not in some superficial way...but in a healing/empowering way...that we still need to learn.
Marc, I have never commented on your blog, but I love to read it and thank you for your insights, it is great reading, indeed.
ReplyDeleteI am thinking about the "black" church and what you said was your point about the friendly environment. No matter if a friendly environment (or hostile)is black, yellow or white. I think you visualize in your ad that it's that exact chruch and therefore will be visually clear. You are surely an expert on selective perception, there would be no chance of explaining what you meant when the ad hits that "unfriendly" environment.
I do hope somehow to be able to see your excellent ad before the end of August.
Thanks for what you do with the Denver Group, it shows your's and Heidi Li's creativness; something we badly we need in this situation, it would be that "third" way in a big dilemma.
I agree with the other commenters about the "black church". Here's what I would say instead:
ReplyDelete"For 17 years Barack Obama wouldn't stand up for America against the repeated anti-American statements made by his own pastor and acknowledged spiritual mentor until his political ambitions made it necessary."
Just a thought.

First, let me compliment you on your excellent writing ability.
Second, I am a Conservative Republican (not happy with the GOP right now, though) and finding your site and hundreds of sites like yours, gives my heart relief and hope for our country.

And finally, the Iraq Prime Minister says he endorses the Democratic candidate's plan for withdrawal from a place that's costing us family members and billions of dollars a month, why do we vote for McCain?
Wow ... great commercial, I could see that one really playing out. Would love to see it put together at least for youtube and blast it all over. Obama is slicker and scarier than Slick Willy ... who would'a thunk it.
